My residency ends on August 31, and I've been discerning what to do after that. I decided not to throw my hat in the ring for an appointment this year. So, I've been looking for a chaplain job and planning on being a stay-at-home mom while looking/in case that doesn't happen. Apparently, the job market for healthcare chaplains is very competitive, and it doesn't help that I'm pretty tied to my current geographical area.
About a week ago, I came across a listing for a chaplain position at a local hospice. It's "flexipool" and very part-time (not quite sure what that means, but I'm not counting on more than 10 or so hours/week) but that's fine. I applied last Tuesday, received a phone call from HR on Thursday, and just today received a phone call from the actual department, saying they want to interview me. I know there are at least three others being considered, but I'm sort of excited and hoping that it works out. Pray with me! I'll keep you updated!
