My Day

9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Disaster readiness drill (fake shooting at local U), briefing, and debriefing. It was the first time they had brought in "families" and had us deal with them, and it was an absolute mess. Hopefully next year's drill will be better...and we'll never have to put this into place.

2:10 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. In ER with family of eight-year-old girl who inexplicably went into cardiac arrest. Between the paramedics and the trauma team, they spent 90 minutes trying to revive her, but she didn't make it.

Now: On call until 6:00 a.m., when I am heading home. I am praying for no calls tonight, because it's been a very, very rough day.

By the way, my W-2 arrived on Monday.
